8TH RACE: 1 1/4 mi. THE KENTUCKY DERBY

This race may just be too close to call. The figures are very even, and the large field makes for a lot of expected trouble. As an entry EXCELLENT MEETING and GENERAL CHALLENGE are tempting as either of them may be close with a chance at the end. THREE RING may be able to surprise at a good price if she gets an uncontested early lead. WORLDLY MANNER may be ready and rested enough to come in and surprise. Most solid chances seem to belong to MENIFEE and PRIME TIMBER if he has recovered from his foot problems that hindered him in the Santa Anita Derby. Just for fun let's go out on a limb and say:
